The way I’m making progress currently is to try to make it possible for the player to follow the Father’s path all the way to the end of the game. As I’m progressing with the objectives, new places, characters, actions etc. need to be added. The first objective on the Father’s path is thus solvable (it’s an easy one), and I’ve started preparing the second one, which is much more complex.

For now, all that can be seen in relation to this second objective is the kennels, as they can be used as one of several ways to progress towards the goal (namely, Eddard Stark).

The first objective in and of itself simply consist of talking to characters (although you’ll be able to also skip it and go right to the second objective if you already know what you are doing). For that purpose, I took the opportunity to add Sandor Clegane. Not every character can give you the answer you’re looking for, but Sandor will. He was more complex than one would assume, because contrary to Ser Arys, he will not simply accompany Sansa back to her room if she’s without her guards. He can be argued with, which creates several possible outcomes, and boy was it a hurdle to implement correctly.

Another character than can help you with the first objective on the Father’s Path is Fara. However, to speak to her you have to restart the day.

Speaking of restarting the day, suicide is now an option. Now, that is not a definite death because the day will keep on resetting no matter what happens as long as Ned Stark isn’t saved. In addition, suicide is not a good idea (unless you are aiming for the fastest game over possible), because it lowers the Sanity meter by half. It is in keeping with the “Groundhog Day” principle, but I’m still hesitant to keep it in - it is a serious topic which I may not be the best equipped to deal with.

Since there is a way to lower dramatically the Sanity meter, there are also ways to raise it. I mentionned praying in the last update (it’s been fixed to be only available once a day), but there is also the option to play with puppies in the kennels. It’s not as effective as it only raises the Sanity by ten points though. I might adjust the numbers later on.
